Crafted in the early 5th century CE, this exquisite piece measures about 36 centimeters in diameter and is adorned with intricate engravings that depict a royal banquet scene, showcasing the opulence and artistry of Sassanian craftsmanship.

The plate is made of nearly pure silver, reflecting the prosperity of the Sassanian Empire, which thrived from 224 to 651 CE under the rule of powerful kings such as Kavad I. The empire was renowned for its advancements in art, architecture, and trade, serving as a cultural bridge between the East and West. This artifact not only exemplifies the skill of Sassanian silversmiths but also provides a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the elite during this period.

Excavations at Bishapur revealed not only this stunning plate but also a wealth of other artifacts, including pottery, tools, and inscriptions that have helped historians piece together the splendor of Sassanian society.
